Help With Coupons

I realize that shopping with coupons can be a little overwhelming. When I first started I neede lots of help. It takes time but it is so worth it in the end. I save on average $400 per month, so the time I put into it is really worth it.

First thing you must do is learn how to stockpile. If you have the space that makes it even better. I built shelves in my pantry/closet to make room for my stockpile. This way when you see a good sale you can stock up on the item. You will be able to stock like items together and keep track of what you have. This will save you  money and also you will always have things on hand.

Don't go crazy, start slow. When I first started I went nuts! I clipped, printed, and tore EVERY coupon I could find! I even clipped dog food coupons (I don't have a dog!) just in case. Don't forget you will need to organize all these coupons.

Where do I find Coupons?
  • Newspaper Inserts- Sunday's newspaper is the best place to find coupons. The two main inserts are Red Plum and Smart Source, once or twice per month there will be a P & G insert as well (this insert is not available in the Cape Cod Times so these weeks I get the Boston Globe). On good weeks I will buy multiple Papers.
  • Online Coupons- There are coupon websites (ie. coupons , Red Plum , Smart Source ). Most coupons can be printed twice per computer (you will need to press Back then Refresh). Once in a while a coupon can be printed more than twice. If it's an item you use print as many as you can! DO NOT print coupons you don't know you are going to use, this is a waste of ink.
  • Blinkies- These are the little coupon dipensers in stores hanging from the shelves. When I see something good I grab as many as I can.
  • Contact Companies- Email companies of items you use frequently. They love to hear from you with good or bad feedback. They will usually send you coupons if you ask.  These are usually REALLY good coupons high value or for Free Items.
  • Ebay-One of my favorite places to fin coupons. If there is something that I use alot or see a good deal this is where I get my coupons. You can get 20 coupons for about $1.50 shipped.( ie. last week I bought 15 $1/1Aquafresh coupons for $1.50 shipped Shaw's had a double pack on sale for $1, so for $1.50 I got 30 toothbrushes.) I do this whenever I see something good. If you see a coupon in the paper you will find it on Ebay. I always  Buy it Now , I don't waste my time with the auctions.

Most stores will let you stack coupons. This means use a store coupon and a manufactures coupon.
Some stores will let you use and stack competitor coupns.
You can use two coupons on Buy One Get One Free Deals, alot of people don't realize this, you are buying two items and can use two coupons.
ie. at CVS a few weeks ago- Loreal Makeup BOGO
1 Loreal Coverup reg. $9.99
1 Loreal Powder (reg $9.99) FREE
2 $3/1 coupons $6.00
Total $3.99 for both

Each store has a different policy so check with your store first.

I hope this helps you guys. I will be adding, Shaw's, Stop & Shop, CVS, and more, soon!
